Job for Research Assistant in Biometerics & Statistics - Africa Rice Center, Cotonou

The Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) Cotonou, Benin Republic, calls for applications for Masters degree holders in Biometrics, Biostatistics and Statistic for the job position of Research Assistant in Biometrics, Africa. Under the supervision of the Biometrician, the Research Assistant will be in charge of all activities related to biometrics/statistics at AfricaRice.


Research Responsibility
Selected candidate will be responsible for:
-Analyzing research data using appropriate statistical software Formulating advices for establishing field, greenhouse and lab trials
-Creating tables and graphs using appropriate software
-Bibliographic searching and writing technical reports and other scientific
-publications in English and French
-Assist in preparing presentations/slides on research results using-software such as PowerPoint
-Undertake any other professional task depending on the needs of the Center

Qualifications
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
-M.Sc. degree or equivalence in biometrics, biostatistics or statistics
-At least 2year experience in data collection and statistical analysis of agronomical, environmental and socioeconomic data.
-Experience in establishing and monitoring agricultural trials is desirable.
-Knowledge of statistical analysis packages such as GenStat, R, SAS, STATA as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
-Experience in teaching statistics to non-statisticians
-Mastery of English or French with working knowledge of the other language
-Be able to work under pressure in a multicultural setting
-Have a spirit of initiative and be able to carry out tasks with minimum supervision
