Commonwealth Professional Fellowships 2011

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) is currently inviting applications for Commonwealth Professional Fellowships in 2011(Round 2). Applications should be made by the UK host organization which acts as the 'nominator', and which can be from any sector. Nominators should be able to identify suitable candidates themselves, through existing organizational networks or by advertising if they wish. A nominator may wish to work with a separate UK organization to actually host the Fellowship(s).

If you are interested in making an application, you will need to register to use the CSC online application system. To do this, please write to the Commission on your organizations’ headed paper giving the full name and e-mail address of the person within the organization who will make the application and will act as contact should the Fellowship go ahead. This will allow the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission to set you up as a nominator on the online system and e-mail you with instructions on how to complete the online system. This letter can be sent by post to below postal or email address.

Selection criteria for 2011 Professional Fellowships
2011 applications for Commonwealth Professional Fellowships will be judged on the following criteria:
  • the extent to which the proposed Fellowship will ensure the transfer of skills relevant to the needs of a Commonwealth developing country
  • the extent to which those skills will lead to practical benefits for the developing country following the Fellowship
  • the extent to which the Fellowship will have a 'catalytic effect', either within the developing country concerned, or in establishing new relationships with the UK
How to apply
Applications for Commonwealth Professional Fellowships must come from UK organisations -the CSC cannot accept any applications directly from prospective Fellows.
If you are a prospective host organisation interested in making an application, you will need to register to use CSCs’ Electronic Application System (EAS). To do this, please write to the CSC on your organization’s headed paper providing the full name and email address of the person who will make the application and who will act as the main contact should the Fellowship go ahead. This letter can be sent by post to:

c/o The Association of Commonwealth Universities
Woburn House

or as an attachment by email to deborah.bennett@cscuk.org.uk.
CSC will then be able to set you up as a nominator on the EAS, and will email you instructions on how to apply.
Organisations that were registered on the EAS in 2010 or 2011 (Round 1) can use the login and password already provided, but should send email to the address above to inform CSC that you intend to make an application in 2011(Round 2).

Application Deadline
The closing date for applications for 2011 Commonwealth Professional Fellowships (Round 2) is 22 September 2011.
The CSC plans to invite applications for one subsequent round of Commonwealth Professional Fellowships in 2011 and will provide details of the closing date on the CSC page below, in due course.
If you have any queries about Commonwealth Professional Fellowships or would like to register for information on 2011applications (Round 3), please email Deborah.Bennett.
