In accordance with its longstanding support for higher education and commitment to the humanities, the Foundation is launching a pilot funding programme of postgraduate scholarships in the humanities for entry in 2012/2013. The timing reflects the Foundation's concerns about funding for the humanities and the potential impact of increased undergraduate debt on postgraduate studies.
Scholarship Worth
100% of university and college fees, and a grant for living costs of at least £15,000 per annum. Funds for research and training costs will also be available to scholars. Awards are made for three years.
Field of Study
The Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships will fund doctoral research in three disciplines that align closely with the Foundation's interests: history, literature and languages.
In line with the Foundation's policy of backing excellence, scholarships are offered at a carefully selected group of nine universities that have strengths across the three disciplines, of which the University of Oxford is one. Oxford has been awarded three scholarships and matched funding is being provided by the Vice-Chancellor's Fund, to which many Oxford donors have made gifts of all sizes, creating a total of six scholarships.
Eligibility
Candidates should be applying to start a new doctoral course at Oxford.
Please ensure you meet the requirements for entry to your course, including English language requirements.
