Bursaries for Postgraduate South African students at Universities in Switzerland 2011-2012

Doctoral, Postdoctoral and Masters Bursaries to South African students at Swiss Universities and Federal Institutes of Technology, Switzerland 2011-2012

Switzerland is offering ten university bursaries to South African students to study for Masters and postdoctoral degrees for the 2011/2012 academic year. Preference will be given to doctoral and post doctoral application but does not exclude masters applications. These bursaries are granted for studies and research at Swiss Universities and Federal Institutes of Technology.

5 IMD MBA Alumni Scholarships in Switzerland for international students 2011

The IMD MBA Alumni Scholarships awards scholarships to five (5) international students. The scholarships, which are designed to encourage diversity, are awarded one to each region: Asia, Africa/Middle East, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Western Europe/North America/Oceania.

Switzerland- Nestle MBA Scholarships for Women Developing Countries 2011/2012

The Nestlé Scholarship for Women was first awarded in 1997 and was initiated by a group of IMD- Switzerland- MBA (Masters in Business Administration) participants who desired to encourage women to take the MBA courses. Preference are given to women from developing countries including but not limited to African female Students.
CHF 25,000 in scholarship award will be given to the female scholarship winner(s).

Switzerland Annual Scholarships for Nigerian Students

I read from the news - 234next.com on 4 February 2011, that the Swiss Government has a soon-to-unfold agreement with the Nigerian Government, to offer five Scholarships for Nigerian Students annually, to study in Nigeria and Switzerland. According to Andreas Baum, the ambassador of Switzerland to Nigeria, Switzerland and Nigeria will formally conclude a migration partnership in less than two weeks - by February 14 2011 precisely.

Swiss Government University Scholarships for African Students 2012-2013

The Swiss Government awards a range of scholarships annually to foreign students including students from eligible African countries, through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS). There are three types of scholarships for international students:
University Scholarships (Swiss universities and Federal Institutes of Technology),
Arts Scholarships (schools of music and fine arts) and
Scholarships for Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS).

The Swiss Government Scholarships for International Students

The Swiss Government offer a number of arts scholarship grants to international students from a number of countries, including Kenya, Algeria, Senegal, South Africa, Cameroon, Madagascar, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Tanzania and Tunisia. Students may undertake Postgraduate study at any Swiss university or Federal Institute of Technology and the universities of applied sciences. For fine arts and music scholarship holders can attend the respective public schools and conservatories.

Proficiency in German, French or Italian is required for studies at a Swiss university or art institution. In some cases a students knowledge of English will also be tested. The scholarships are for nine months.

If You are a talented social entrepreneur or working for an NGO in an emerging/developing country and would like to acquire a top international MBA through scholarship in Switzerland, IMB offers scholarship to MBA students like you.

Scholarship WORTH:
Living Expenses (as deemed reasonable by IMD) + CHF 45,000

ELIGIBILITY:

Qualified candidates are international students from Developing countries;
-who have a passion to make a contribution to society through socially responsible leadership
-Currently working as a social entrepreneur or for an NGO in your home country or region
-with 4-10 years work experience
-Making a significant contribution to your local environment, country or society in general
-who have leadership characteristics and the ability to have an impact in the class
-who have financial need such that you could not otherwise afford to attend IMD MBA program
-who have Strong command of written and spoken English
-who demonstrate a passion and commitment for socially responsible leadership both in your current role and would go back to your home country or region after the IMD MBA program.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

HOW to APPLY

Send the following information by July 1, 2010 to be considered for the IMD MBA program starting in January 2012:
Answer the 5 scholarship essay questions below
Submit your university transcripts
Send 2 letters of recommendation
Submit the IMD financial aid application with all supporting documents.

Scholarship essays:


1. Tell us about yourself and your experience (500 words)

2. What drives your passion for socially responsible leadership? (100 words)

3. What are your future career goals? (100 words)

4. Why does an IMD MBA fit with these future career goals? (100 words)

5. Identify a social entrepreneurship project in your country. How would you implement the project including milestones and funding? Identify positive points that may help you to implement the plan as well as barriers (and possible solutions) that may prevent you from achieving your goals. (500 words. Additional supporting project information can be submitted in an appendix.)

Important Dates

September 15, 2010: The IMD Scholarship Selection Committee will identify a short list of scholarship candidates
October 30, 2010: Selection of candidates. Candidates will be interviewed by telephone during the month of October.
January 10, 2011: Completion of GMAT test by selected candidates
February 1, 2011: Notification of scholarship finalist/s.
April 1, 2011: Submission of completed IMD MBA application form for the 2012 class.

Important notes

Scholarship winners must complete and pass the regular IMD MBA admission process prior to being accepted for the program! IMD does NOT guarantee a place in the MBA program until completion and passing of the regular MBA admissions process.
